Match 11
Brazil 2 Philippines 6
Neither team have earned any points and Brazil are yet to make it on the score sheet. Both have failed to qualify from the group containing the U.K. and Tanzania. It’s going to be an interesting contest all the same with the Philippines still eager to turn flair into results.
Philippines have a slow start with Brazil looking the better side but first blood goes to the Philippines. A shot from distance with the aid of a deflection trundles past the keeper. A long ball won in the air by the shortest man on the pitch is flicked on and stabbed home to put the Philippines two in front.
Slick play from the Philippines finished emphatically into the top corner. Brazil’s early dominance has been long forgotten. Moments later another bullet strike from the Philippines makes it 4 – 0.
Brazil pick up their first goal of the tournament as a result of a headed own goal by the Filipino defender.
The game ends 6 – 2 with a Brazilian name finally going on the score sheet and the Philippines looking good to clinch the Winners Plate, the trophy sought after by those who fail to qualify for the semifinals proper.
